SUN CITY HISTORY & MUSIC/COMEDY DISCUSSIONS SLATED FOR FAIRWAY
Fairway Branch Library is hosting two speakers in separate programs in April who will share their passions for history and music/comedy.
On Wednesday, April 18, 1-3 p.m., Judith Ann Trolander, Ph.D, will discuss "Age 55 or Better: A History of Active Adult Communities" with an emphasis on Sun City. She will reference her book From Sun Cities to the Villages as she explains her significant research on the development of age-restricted active adult communities in the West Valley.
David Schildkret, who holds a doctor's degree in choral conducting, will discuss the relationship between humor and music on Monday, April 23, 10-11:30 a.m. Using video, audio and PowerPoint, he will define the basis of humor, the history and context of humor, and our human capacity to find things funny, aided by music. Schildkret uses excerpts from the Marx Brothers, Monty Python, Wile E. Coyote and other films to show how viewers respond to humor combined with musical stimuli.
Both programs will take place in the Fairway Recreation Center Room 1, next to the library. Fairway Branch Library is located at 10600 W. Peoria Ave, Sun City.
